Day 14 - Azuaga to Sevilla

Hardly slept at all, I think the enormity of it all was dawning on me as I was anticipating my arrival in Seville.

I got up at 06.00h starving, I had left dinner the night before in protest at waiting over 90 mins for it to arrive at the table 🤷‍♂️ We sat at the scheduled time of 19.30h and at 21.15h I gave up and went to bed. I was shattered after a long hard ride and didn´t want to go to bed immediately after eating.

Some of the food we have been served up on this trip was truly pathetic, especially the breakfasts. Not the fault of any of the organisers more like rural Spanish hotels and hostels that couldn´t cope with the size of the group 🤷‍♂️

OK, enough moaning let´s get this ride completed 🚴

It was very important to stay focused and not start celebrating too early. There was still the small matter of 134km to cycle and the added complexity of cycling through a large city.

I had 2 objectives today;

  1. Hit my fundraising target

  2. Finish the challenge in one piece

Just before I set off I rounded up the most important guys here for a photo ...

From left to right - Ricky, Cris, Joe, Dave & Sean.

The Greenrock team, what a job they`ve done getting over 30 Celtic fans on bikes through this.

Not all Superheroes wear capes! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Time to get going, I´ll just let the photos do the talking from here ...

Got the first refreshment stop and checked my phone ...

I was so happy 😊 Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting me. I will reach out and thank everyone that donated personally over the next couple of days. I´m truly humbled by your generosity 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Back on the bike and very soon this appeared ...

Hammer down, managed to top 60km/h finally😊🚴💪

Long stop for lunch where I managed to eat well at last in a town Cafe.

33km to go so back on Grace ...

I could see the famous bridges now getting closer. Checked my phone and seen the instruction to make my way to the Cathedral. I´ve been to Seville many times before so I knew exactly where to go.

Not sure all the tourists visiting La Giralda were expecting to see 30+ mad cyclists celebrating at the fountain 🤣

What an amazing feeling to have done it, not ashamed to admit I was quite emotional🥹

Tomorrow we will all cycle to the stadium for a lap of honour before a group celebration dinner.

once that´s done I´ll round off the blog with one final post.

Distance covered 134.3 Km

Climbing 1371 M

Moving time 06h 15m 25s

Summary:

Much hillier than I was expecting but after lunch downhill and flat into Seville 😊

Difficulty rating 7/10
