With only 5 days to go before I roll out of Celtic Park on Grace my training is now complete!
Tuesday 23rd Aug '16 I recorded my 1st 100 Km ride on Strava
Distance 108.5 km
Moving Time 7:00:00
Avg Speed 15.5 km/h
Compare that to a similar ride I did on Easter Sunday 16th Apr '17 and you can see how far I've come.
Distance 110.0 km
Moving Time 3:46:46
Avg Speed 29.1 km/h
Here are some statistics from my training ...........
Total Distance 6,425.0 km
Total Rides 66
Longest Ride 300.5 km
Biggest Climb 1,030 m
Best Avg Speed 29.1 km/h
Metres Climbed 71,607 m
Time in the Saddle 295 hours 57 minutes
Weight Loss 14 kg
During this time and as part of the training program I gave myself I have learned an enormous amount about ALL things cycling.
The technique of climbing and descending, group riding, road safety, cycling etiquette.
Road Bike maintenance & repair as well as the importance of the correct clothing.
Nutrition - fuelling long rides and how to recover quickly and repeat.

I've been knocked of by a BMW, wiped out spectacularly when I didn't see railway tracks as I cornered. Overcame the sore backside continuously as I increased the distances. Cycled as early as 05.45h and as late as 23.00h to meet targets, kept going despite the pains, cramps and occasional hangovers.
Grace is resting, soon to be dismantled, cleaned and prepared for travel. I will have a sports massage (Legs on Sunday, Back on Monday)
BTW I can thoroughly recommend Verity Massage
I am as ready as I will ever be and the money raised is almost £2400 so far.
Big push is on to get over £3000 before I set off next Thursday, you can help Solve Kids Cancer right now, right here. Thank you
